BALTIMORE, MD—Med-IQ, an award-winning, ACCME-accredited provider of continuing medical education (CME), is pleased to announce that it is the recipient of 2 awards presented by the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions (ACEhp):

  • 2016 Award for Outstanding Educational Collaboration
  • 2016 Outstanding CE Enduring Material Award

The Award for Outstanding Educational Collaboration was presented to Med-IQ’s Quality Improvement Institute, whose goal is to develop sustainable QI initiatives that connect clinical performance with process-focused education to improve care, lower costs, and foster a healthier population. This initiative, Improving HCV Recognition and Linkage to Care Among the Baby Boomer Generation: Using a Demonstrated Model of Success is being conducted in collaboration with Duke University School of Medicine, Virginia Mason, University of North Texas, and MedStar Health. Focused on improving the testing for, and identification of, hepatitis C in alignment with clinical practice guidelines, this initiative has demonstrated significant improvements in primary practices across the country. To date, testing rates have risen as much as 188% in one healthcare system following six months of focused, data-driven educational interventions.

The award for Outstanding CE Enduring Material was presented for Med-IQ’s work on Medical Insiders: An In-Depth Look at Non-Insulin-Based Therapies for Type 2 Diabetes. This CME-certified activity examined the safety and efficacy of contemporary non-insulin-based therapies and paired Web-based education with a high-touch patient-engagement program from Pack Health (packhealth.com). This initiative showed statistical improvements in both clinician knowledge and competence related to newer classes of non-insulin therapies as well as patient reported measures of health including blood glucose and weight.

“We are honored to be recognized by the ACEhp for the work we are doing in both QI and patient engagement education,” said Med-IQ CEO, Scott Weber. “We believe passionately that our community has the opportunity and the ability to improve patient care through education. These are two examples of our commitment.”

With the addition of these 2 awards, Med-IQ has now received a total of 23 awards from the ACEhp, making Med-IQ one of the most award-winning accredited CME providers in the nation. Med-IQ was recognized on January 14, 2016, during the Alliance’s 2016 Annual Conference at the Gaylord National®, National Harbor, MD.
