The Who, Why, and What of Workplace Violence is designed to address the alarming rates of increased violence against healthcare workers. Based on standards from The Joint Commission, (TJC), effective January 1, 2022, accredited hospitals must provide education and training for staff as part of ongoing efforts to increase knowledge and ensure that care is provided in a safe setting. In alignment with these national standards for TJC, this activity addresses: (1) how to recognize patients at risk for committing acts of violence, (2) how to appropriately respond to violence in the workplace, and (3) the importance of reporting WPV events across the organization.
