NMIC has seen multiple cases arise where the clinical documentation does not effectively describe the care rendered, which increases the chance of a plaintiff verdict if an issue becomes litigated. In order to address this trend, and to increase the defensibly of all care rendered by NMIC insureds, education is needed to illustrate how the electronic medical record should be best utilized to capture not only specifics of the patient’s care but also the overall treatment plan.
