Goals-of-Care Discussions: Hearing the Patient’s Voice empowers clinicians by equipping them with strategies to better engage critically or chronically ill patients—and their families—in discussions about end-of-life care preferences. This module offers tools to help physicians and advanced practice providers overcome barriers to initiating these “goals-of-care” (GOC) conversations. This knowledge gained from this course will also help clinicians ensure that GOC conversations are: (1) perceived by patients and families as timely, patient centered, and comprehensive in scope, and (2) meet the individual needs of patients, including patients with complicated clinical presentations.
