End-of-Life: Risk Management and Ethics addresses appropriate pain assessment and management for verbal and non-verbal patients, duties to coordinate care with hospice, prevent and/or de-escalate family conflict, mitigate documentation-based and fall risks upon transitions of care, when to initiate hospice referral, and strategies for providers to maintain professional boundaries and reconcile ethical conflicts with the decisions of a patient’s health care proxy.
