Behavioral Health: Veterans’ Issues addresses the role of family engagement in managing veteran behavioral health/suicide prevention, delivering culturally competent care to veterans’ family members with mental health issues, the importance of reviewing past medical, occupational, and social history in evaluation of mental health issues that may be specific to veterans or informed by the veteran’s experience, risk issues specific to non-psychiatrists who prescribe or renew psychotropic medications for veterans, a healthcare provider’s duty to protect a patient from self-injury, consideration of the impact of PTSD or other behavioral health issues when formulating care plans, and the duty of a physician when providing a telemedicine consult.
