Automatic Credit Reporting
Reporting Your CME Credits Automatically
Med-IQ is proud to be recognized as an ACCME Innovation Partner, supporting new ways to simplify CME reporting for physicians nationwide and we are committed to making it easier to track continuing medical education (CME) credits with automatic reporting.
For each Med-IQ activity that you successfully complete, Med-IQ will automatically transmit your CME credits to the ACCME PARS system. Credits submitted to ACCME PARS are then reported to a variety of state licensing and medical specialty boards (see below for a listing of participating boards). These credits will also appear in CME Passport, a national data repository provided by ACCME that allows physicians to view the CME credits that Med-IQ has reported on their behalf and download their transcript.
Once you opt-in to this new program, physicians should allow a maximum of 30 days to see their reported credits appear in their portfolios. It is important that you supply the correct data (legal name, month and day of birth, NPI, license state, board ID numbers), as it appears on your licenses, in order to successfully transmit your credits. Questions or issues with reported credits can be submitted to support@med-iq.com.
CME Passport
CME Passport is a free service for physicians provided by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the national accrediting authority for continuing medical education, that allows physicians to:
- Create a profile to view CME credits reported on their behalf
- Download and share their transcript
- Credits are reported by participating CME providers and shared with collaborating licensing and certifying boards

State Medical Boards
The ACCME and State Medical Licensing Boards collaboration enables accredited CME providers to report physicians’ CME credit details and make that information available to participating state boards via ACCME’s Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS). ACCME’s goal is to reduce burdens on physicians and simplify the audit process for boards. ACCME offers this service free of charge. All state medical licensing boards have access to the CME credit data reported for their licensees. As of April 20206, the following boards have designated PARS as their primary source, or actively use PARS, for CME information required for relicensure:
- Alabama Board of Medical Examiners
- Alaska State Medical Board
- DC Health
- Idaho Board of Medicine
- Medical Board of California
- Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine
- Maine Board of Osteopathic Licensure
- Maryland Board of Physicians
- Mississippi Board of Medical Licensure
- New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners
- North Carolina Medical Board
- North Dakota Board of Medicine
- Oregon Medical Board
- Virgin Islands Board of Medical Examiners
- Washington Medical Commission
- Wyoming Board of Medicine

Maintenance of Certification
ACCME collaborated with American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) certifying boards to simplify and align the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) process to better meet the needs of physicians and educators. These collaborations increase the number and diversity of accredited CME activities that meet the requirements for MOC and add value to accredited CME programs. Currently, collaborations are in place with:
- American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA)
- American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
- American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS)
- American Board of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS)
- American Board of Pathology (ABPath)
- American Board of Pediatrics (ABP)
- American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR)
- American Board of Surgery (ABS)
- American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How can I confirm that my credits were successfully transferred to my state or medical specialty board?
Med-IQ transmits completion credits to the ACCME PARS system for MD/DO learners only. The ACCME PARS system then transmits completion credits to all applicable state and medical specialty boards listed above. You can log into your CME Passport account to confirm your credits have been successfully transmitted to ACCME. You can also log into your state or medical specialty board portfolios to confirm your credits have been successfully transmitted. If you do not see your credits please submit a request to support@med-iq.com and indicate where your credits do appear and where they do not appear and we can look into the issue.
What happens to my credits if my state or medical specialty board is not listed on the transmission list above?
If your state or medical specialty board is not currently collaborating with ACCME on automatic credit reporting you should continue to self report your credits to your applicable board(s). You can still download/print your CME certificate at the conclusion of any Med-IQ activity. ACCME is actively working on additional collaborations so check back frequently to determine if your board has been added to the list of collaborators.
What if I am licensed in multiple states?
Med-IQ is initially reporting to the primary license state entered by a learner. If you are licensed in multiple states, please select the state that currently requires mandatory automated transmission (https://accme.org/data-reporting/state-medical-licensing-boards-collaborations/) as your primary licensing state. In the meantime, you can reach out to support@med-iq.com and indicate what completed courses you need transmitted to an additional state board. Please provide the state and state board id for the additional transmission.
We will be expanding functionality in the future to multiple states if there is learner demand.
It has been 30 days and I still do not see my credits appearing on my state or medical specialty board portfolio?
Credits may take up to 30 days to appear in your various portfolios. If you do not see your credits listed after 30 days please submit a request to support@med-iq.com and indicate where your credits do appear and where they do not appear and we can look into the issue.
I don’t see all my completion credits appearing on my CME Passport transcript, how can they be added?
Not all accredited providers are participating in the automatic transmission process so you should confirm the organization that is awarding the credit that you do not see. If credits from your Med-IQ activities are missing, please submit a request to support@med-iq.com.
Can I have credits completed before I signed up for automatic data transmission transmitted to my boards?
Yes, please send a request to support@med-iq.com and indicate which past courses you would like transmitted to ACCME PARS so that they are accessible via CME Passport and to your board. Please be aware that Med-IQ cannot transmit any course completions older than 5 years.
If I opt-in to the auto-transmission to ACCME PARS, do I still get a certificate? If so, where can I find it?
Yes, Med-IQ learning management systems (LMS) will continue to issue PDF versions of your certificate and make them accessible through your learner transcript. You will need to be logged in to the LMS to access your transcript and certificates.
