People with mental health conditions have a higher risk of physical disease and reduce access to healthcare. This high rate of physical comorbidity, which is often poorly managed, leads to a higher rate of hospital and ICU admission, as well as reduced life expectancy, compared with the general population. After hospitalization, these patients are more likely to visit the ED or be readmitted to the hospital/ICU. This course provides clinicians with effective strategies for managing patients with mental health conditions and for recognizing and managing delirium.
