Learning Objectives
Upon completion, participants should be able to:

  • Apply genomic medicine to treatment decisions for patients with HR+/HER2- early stage breast cancer
  • Assess the range of radiotherapy doses and fractionation schemes that may be appropriate for patients with early stage breast cancer who undergo breast-conserving surgery
  • Evaluate select clinical studies on the latest surgical techniques in breast cancer

Target Audience
This activity is intended for oncologists and hematologists.

Statement of Need
About 12% of women in the United States will develop breast cancer at some point in their lifetimes. The American Cancer Society estimates that approximately 266,120 women will be newly diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and approximately 63,960 women will be newly diagnosed with breast carcinoma in situ in 2018. These women will likely have many questions about their treatment options, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery. New clinical findings and evidence, which continue to emerge at a rapid pace, need to be evaluated and applied in clinical practice to best individualize each patient’s care and optimize her outcomes.
