BALTIMORE, MD—December 19, 2013—Med-IQ, an award-winning, ACCME-accredited provider of continuing medical education (CME), is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with U.S. Medicine: The Voice of Federal Medicine to provide complimentary educational activities to federal healthcare professionals in an effort to help improve the care of active-duty military and veteran populations.

“Today’s federal healthcare system faces unprecedented challenges related to servicemembers with complex and long-term healthcare needs,” said James F. Breuning, Publisher of U.S. Medicine. “Certified CME/CE activities that address the unique challenges faced in the federal healthcare setting are an essential component in the effort to help improve the care of, and quality of life in this patient population.”

Through the Med-IQ/U.S. Medicine partnership, five CME/CE-certified publications are currently available, totaling 4.5 hours of free CME/CE credit, in the following clinical areas:

  • Migraine
  • Multiple Sclerosis: Symptom Management
  • Multiple Sclerosis: Disease-Modifying Therapy
  • Schizophrenia
  • Suicide Risk Assessment and Prevention
Designed specifically for clinicians working in the federal healthcare setting, the educational activities review the latest updates and current guidelines for managing active-duty military and veteran patient populations who suffer from these conditions. Each publication incorporates practical information about factors and challenges unique to this patient population and provides a summary of resources available within the Veterans Health Administration and Department of Defense to manage these patients.

“Our hope is to provide clinicians in the federal system with access to timely and relevant education in an effort to help improve patient care among active-duty military and veteran populations,” said William A. Mencia, MD, CCMEP, Vice President of Education and Medical Affairs at Med-IQ. “We are honored to play a small part in this endeavor by partnering with U.S. Medicine to deliver this education to federal healthcare professionals, free of charge.”
