Inspiring Medical Education.

BALTIMORE, MD—December 5, 2013—Med-IQ, an award-winning, ACCME-accredited provider of continuing medical education (CME), is pleased to announce the availability of its latest CME/CE offering for anesthesia providers, Strategies for Optimal Intraoperative Use of Opioid Agents.

Because of their rapid onset and time to peak effectiveness, short-acting opioids are the most commonly used analgesics in anesthetic regimens. This CME/CE-certified series explores considerations for balancing the efficacy, safety, and cost of these analgesic agents to optimize anesthetic outcomes. It includes six interactive Webcasts and one online publication.

“In order to plan safe and effective opioid-based anesthetic regimens and avoid opioid-related adverse events, we must thoroughly assess both patient- and drug-related factors,” said Peter S.A. Glass, MB, ChB, Professor Emeritus from the Department of Anesthesiology at Stony Brook Medicine. “This online CME/CE series offers anesthesia providers a comprehensive review of the benefits, risks, and pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of short-acting opioids to assist in selecting appropriate analgesic agents for intraoperative use.”
