Med-IQ.
Inspiring Medical Education.

BALTIMORE, MD—July 24, 2013—Nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who treat patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) are currently registering to attend a 2-hour, free educational workshop series, sponsored by Med-IQ, an ACCME-accredited provider of continuing medical education (CME).

Surveying the Landscape of MS Management: The Broad Strokes to the Finer Points is a CME/CE-certified regional workshop series designed to help participants look beyond initial diagnosis and select optimal treatment strategies for their patients with MS. Attendees can expect to learn to identify appropriate patient candidates for disease-modifying therapy, develop an understanding of the clinical benefits and risks of available therapies, evaluate emerging therapies and consider how they might integrate into the current treatment paradigm, and apply strategies to identify and manage suboptimal responders.

The workshops will be held in 10 cities across the United States:

Optimal treatment plans for MS are highly variable, as strategies for therapeutic success are often as different as the patients they serve. This variability is due in large part to the many unknowns related to the recent emergence of new agents for the treatment of MS, and their role versus traditional, well established therapies. “The emergence of these newer agents,” said William A. Mencia, MD, CCMEP, Vice President of Education & Medical Affairs at Med-IQ, “combined with a lack of prescriptive practice guidelines, has created an opportunity for positive dialogue between patients and their healthcare providers on the advantages and disadvantages of each type of agent, thus fostering an environment of engagement that can focus the conversation on issues such as proper timing for initiation and monitoring of therapy, slowing progression toward severe disability, and ensuring adherence.”

Each workshop will be from 7:30 to 10:00 AM; breakfast will be served. Interested clinicians can register by calling (toll-free) 866 858 7434, e-mailing info@med-iq.com, or completing this brief online form.
