Med-IQ.
Inspiring Medical Education.

BALTIMORE, MD—July 9, 2013—Med-IQ, an award-winning, ACCME-accredited provider of continuing medical education (CME), has collaborated closely with Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine to provide complimentary hepatitis C virus (HCV) CME/CE for healthcare professionals.

Charting a Successful Treatment Course in HCV: A Comprehensive Approach to the Informed Treat-or-Defer Decision is an online educational activity developed for healthcare professionals who treat patients with HCV, including hepatologists, gastroenterologists, and infectious disease specialists.

Current HCV treatment guidelines do not provide concrete direction on deciding between the prompt initiation of antiviral therapy and the informed deferral of treatment. This activity is designed to help participants individualize treat-or-defer decisions in HCV management by considering all relevant disease factors, patient characteristics, and emerging treatment options. The interactive learning format features audio clips of faculty expert opinion about the potential risks and benefits of starting or deferring therapy and ways to adequately communicate these issues to patients.
