Med-IQ.
Inspiring Medical Education.

BALTIMORE, MD—May 28, 2013—The Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions recently featured articles on two of Med-IQ’s award-winning CME/CE activities in its monthly publication, Almanac.

Evaluating the Clinical Effect of Performance Improvement Interventions on Type 2 Diabetes Patient Care was awarded the 2013 William Campbell Felch Award for Research in Continuing Education for the best completed research project. In an effort to more fully understand the value of performance improvement (PI) CME on patient outcomes, Med-IQ conducted an in-depth analysis of patient-level data from a cohort of learners of its diabetes-focused PI CME initiative. The study provided clinical evidence that underscored the importance of PI CME on patient outcomes and offered more knowledgeable insight into clinicians who participate in PI CME initiatives. This series was supported by an educational grant from Sanofi-aventis U.S. Inc., A SANOFI COMPANY.

Women Empowered: A Community-Based Initiative to Improve Breast Health in African Americans received the 2013 Award for Outstanding Educational Collaboration, which is presented in recognition of those organizations best demonstrating innovation or uniqueness in achieving effective educational collaboration. Med-IQ partnered with Sisters Network® Inc. for this community-based outreach campaign designed to address disparities in care and increase breast cancer awareness among at-risk women. The initiative resulted in two women being diagnosed with breast cancer after seeking screening. One of the women underwent surgery, and the other is currently in follow-up treatment. This series was supported by an educational grant from Sanofi-aventis U.S. Inc., A SANOFI COMPANY.

The Alliance’s Almanac is a monthly newsletter that reaches more than 2,200 members. Topics include industry news and best practices. Both articles were published in the April 2013 issue. To access the publication, visit http://www.acehp.org/imis15/aCME/PDFs/almanac/2013/apralm13.pdf.
