BALTIMORE, MD—May 7, 2013—William A. Mencia, MD, CCMEP, Vice President of Education & Medical Affairs at Med-IQ, recently sat down with Steve Singer, PhD, Director of Education & Outreach at the ACCME, to discuss quality improvement initiatives and CME research.

In a two-part video interview, Dr. Mencia explains how Med-IQ, an award-winning, ACCME-accredited provider of CME, has developed collaborations to improve hospital-based care and has worked toward developing a publication plan of the results of Med-IQ’s CME activities. He also discusses ways to publish results of CME research projects. The videos are available as free resources on the ACCME’s Web site.

How CME Can Improve Health Care Quality While Reducing Costs: A Medical Education Company/Hospital Collaboration
Dr. Mencia talks with Dr. Singer about how his company, Med-IQ, was able to identify a clinical problem within several hospitals and address it by engaging hospital leadership in a way that ultimately improved the delivery of care and lowered costs. The discussion is explored in the context of the Affordable Care Act.
Demonstrating CME’s Value through Outcomes Research and Publishing
Drs. Mencia and Singer explore how accredited CME providers can develop educational activities that yield publishable outcomes data. Dr. Mencia reviews how a Med-IQ Webcast on atrial fibrillation and a diabetes performance improvement initiative helped improve physician performance and patient care.
