Women Empowered: A Community-Based Initiative to Improve Breast Health in African Americans

BALTIMORE, MD—May 20, 2011—Med-IQ is partnering with Sisters Network Baltimore, Affiliate of Sisters Network® Inc., a leading voice in the survivorship community and the only national African American breast cancer survivorship organization in the United States, to provide a community-based patient education campaign addressing disparities in healthcare delivery for underserved and uninsured women, as well as healthcare professionals, in the Park Heights neighborhood of Baltimore. Supported by an educational grant from sanofi-aventis U.S., the initiative is designed to increase awareness, encourage women to get regular mammograms, and address fears that affect timely screening, diagnosis, and treatment.
