BALTIMORE, Md.—February 18, 2010—Med-IQ, an ACCME-accredited provider of continuing medical education (CME), announces the launch of a complimentary, certified CME/CE Webcast series, New Horizons in Multiple Sclerosis Therapy: Challenges and Opportunities.

Consisting of a comprehensive, expert-led presentation and two interactive patient case studies, this multi-module, Web-based series explores the latest evidence-based guidelines, strategies, and best practices for the management of multiple sclerosis (MS) for enhanced patient care.

“Over the past couple decades, clinical research, pivotal clinical trials, and scientific progress in the understanding of MS pathology have led to dramatic improvements in the recognition and management of patients, advances in MRI technology, and the development of several new immunomodulating agents,” says Douglas Jeffrey, MD. “Despite this progress, the treatment of MS remains suboptimal and misdiagnoses can still occur. Keeping abreast of recent developments, guidelines, and new insights that may improve patient care is a significant challenge for most neurologists and other clinicians who treat patients with MS.”

New Horizons in Multiple Sclerosis Therapy: Challenge and Opportunities reviews the evolving evidence base supporting the early detection and treatment of MS and offers suggestions for applying these data to clinical practice to improve patient care.

Through panel-based discussions, expert faculty address best practice recommendations, outlining recent advances in pathophysiology and immunopathology, the role of imaging in diagnosis and patient monitoring, practice guidelines, practical applications of current and future treatments for MS, and recent clinical evidence as featured at the 2009 Congress of the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS). Participants can also choose from two patient case studies to review the practical application of clinical work-up and conventional and advanced MRI metrics to assess disease progression and response to therapy in patients with MS.

Participants can view this complimentary, certified CME/CE Webcast series today, or learn more, by visiting www.MultipleSclerosis-IQ.com.

This series is supported by an educational grant from Teva Neuroscience. The didactic portion of this series is approved for AMA PRA Category I Credit™ and CBRN credit. The case studies are approved for AMA PRA Category I Credit™. Registered nurses who complete one or both of the 30-minute case studies will receive a Statement of Participation.
