BALTIMORE, Md.—March 9, 2009—Registration is now underway for physicians to join a consultative Community of Practice forum with leading expert Christopher P. Cannon, MD, and other specialists to discuss strategies to overcome barriers in ACS care.

Date: Wednesday, March 18, 2009
Time: 7 to 7:30 AM ET
Faculty: Christopher P. Cannon, MD
Cost: Complimentary

"During this Community of Practice forum, I look forward to collaborating with other physicians to share strategies that can improve risk assessment, initial pharmacologic management, and time-to-treatment for ACS patients," said Christopher P. Cannon, MD, chair of the Performance Improvement Strategies in Acute Coronary Syndromes CME series.

The American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association recommend that cardiologists and emergency medicine physicians follow an ongoing program of outcomes analysis and periodic case reviews to identify process strategies that will reduce the time to deliver appropriate treatments. Audioconference participants will have the opportunity to discuss strategies to improve ACS care.

This activity is part of the complimentary, certified CME series, Performance Improvement Strategies in Acute Coronary Syndromes. More than 550 cardiologists and emergency medicine physicians have registered to participate in this first-of-its-kind initiative, which has been designed in accordance with the American Medical Association-approved, three-stage learning model and is focused on enhancing ACS patient care.

"Busy physicians who treat patients with ACS need convenient access to evidence-based medical education," said William A. Mencia, MD, Vice President of Education & Medical Affairs for Med-IQ. "We are working with some of the top ACS experts in the country in developing this performance improvement series to help specialists more effectively treat and improve the care of ACS patients."
