Complimentary CME Lunch Symposium at the 2015 ISN World Congress of Nephrology Explores the Evolution of Science, Medicine, and Patient-Centered Care in CKD-MBD

The Evolution of Science, Medicine, and Patient-Centered Care in CKD-MBD

BALTIMORE, MD—March 10, 2015—Nephrologists are invited to join internationally renowned experts at a free continuing medical education (CME) lunch meeting as they review key updates in chronic kidney disease-mineral and bone disorder (CKD-MBD). Sponsored by Med-IQ, an ACCME-accredited provider of CME, The Evolution of Science, Medicine, and Patient-Centered Care in CKD-MBD will outline methods for improving patient outcomes and will be held during the 2015 ISN World Congress of Nephrology in Cape Town, South Africa.

In recent years, substantial new insights have been made into the pathophysiology of the mineral and hormonal imbalances that may accompany CKD-MBD. Expert perspectives have evolved regarding the optimal care for patients at risk of developing this condition. Therefore, our expert panel will explore available and emerging data to help clinicians identify where evidence voids remain. In addition, they will discuss strategies for reducing the major complications associated with CKD-MBD and its treatment, such as elevated fracture risk and cardiovascular events.

"As the science continues to evolve, clinicians must make real-time critical decisions regarding care for their patients," said Ivor J. Katz, MD, MBBCh (Wits), FCP(SA), RACP Nephrology, BSc Honours, PhD, conjoint associate professor at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, and nephrologist who trained and worked in South Africa. "During this meeting, my colleagues and I will present emerging evidence in CKD-MBD and offer strategies for implementing individualized therapeutic approaches, which can improve patient engagement, strengthen adherence to therapy, and enhance CKD-MBD management."

The CME lunch meeting will be held during the 2015 ISN World Congress of Nephrology in Cape Town, South Africa, on Saturday, March 14, 2015. Lunch will be served from 11:45 to 12:15, and the panel-based discussion will take place from 12:15 to 13:15. No registration is required.
