Med-IQ Webcast Reviews Staging Strategies for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Changing Science and Future Pathways in the Management of Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Multidisciplinary Perspective

BALTIMORE, MD—December 11, 2014—Accurate staging is a crucial factor in determining the probability of survival for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and in guiding patient management decisions. Although several staging systems have been proposed, no consensus exists regarding the optimal staging algorithm. To help clinicians improve their management of patients with HCC, Med-IQ, an ACCME-accredited provider of continuing medical education (CME), has provided this complimentary CME Webcast, Changing Science and Future Pathways in the Management of Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Multidisciplinary Perspective.

Hepatologists, oncologists, and oncology nurses are encouraged to join faculty in this free, educational activity—expiring soon—as it aims to integrate clinical evidence with expert insights into the contexts of real-world case scenarios. Participants will gain insight into the rationale for staging HCC and how it affects selecting therapeutic interventions that align with disease stages and addressing disease symptoms.

Evaluating staging strategies is especially important for patients who are considered to be candidates for systemic therapy, of which nearly 50% of all patients with HCC are. In addition to reviewing staging tools, Dr. Abou-Alfa and Dr. Barton-Burke discuss targeted therapies and address disease symptoms and treatment-related side effects in this Webcast.
