Common Challenges to Cystic Fibrosis Treatment Adherence Addressed in Complimentary CME/CE Publication for Healthcare Professionals

MS Masters Interactive Workshop Series: Contemporary Strategies in the Management of Multiple Sclerosis

BALTIMORE, MD—December 4, 2014—Med-IQ, an award winning, ACCME-accredited provider of continuing medical education (CME), is pleased to announce the availability of the complimentary, online CME/CE activity, Patients Are From Mars, Clinicians Are From Venus: Creating a Common Language in Cystic Fibrosis to Improve Adherence.

Adherence to complex, life-long treatment plans for cystic fibrosis (CF) is an ever-present and dynamic challenge facing patients, caregivers, and clinicians alike.

Healthcare professionals are invited to participate in this interactive, online CME/CE activity to hear first-hand from a multidisciplinary panel of clinicians, patients, and caregivers as they share practical insights and real-life perspectives on the management of CF.

“Patient-centered communication among all stakeholders involved in the management of CF is essential to ensure that patients and their families understand the rationale for treatment and the importance of adherence to care plans in order to fully engage patients and provide a foundation for positive short- and long-term outcomes,” said Christian Merlo, MD, MPH, assistant professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.

By incorporating the perspectives of nationally recognized faculty, patients with CF, and patient caregivers, this online, audio-enhanced publication highlights common barriers to optimal treatment adherence in CF, practical strategies for patient/family engagement, and expert insights into effective adherence interventions so CF care teams are armed with actionable techniques to implement in routine practice.
