Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Med-IQ Present Key Findings Regarding the Treatment of Schizophrenia in a CME-Certified Activity

MS Masters Interactive Workshop Series: Contemporary Strategies in the Management of Multiple Sclerosis

BALTIMORE, MD—October 2, 2014—Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Med-IQ, an award-winning, ACCME-accredited provider of continuing medical education (CME), are pleased to announce the availability of the CME-certified online activity, Myths and Realities Regarding the Use of Long-Acting Injectable Antipsychotics in Schizophrenia: Insights From the Frontline.

Preventing relapses in patients with schizophrenia is essential to improving their long-term outcomes. When used appropriately, long-acting injectable (LAI) antipsychotics can help minimize periods of treatment discontinuation. However, confusion regarding this therapeutic option sometimes exists among patients and healthcare professionals. This educational activity addresses this confusion and provides state-of-the-art evidence along with expert insight on the appropriate use of LAI antipsychotic agents in patients with schizophrenia.

“This online publication presents key findings and practice pearls from a series of 30-minute individualized teleconferences for psychiatrists,” said John Lauriello, MD, professor and chairman of the University of Missouri Department of Psychiatry in Columbia, MO. “It also discusses myths and realities regarding the use of LAIs in the treatment of patients with schizophrenia.”
