Inspiring Medical Education.

BALTIMORE, MD—August 12, 2014—The Indiana University School of Medicine and Med-IQ, an award-winning, ACCME-accredited provider of continuing medical education (CME), are pleased to announce the availability of a complimentary, CME-certified Webcast in type 2 diabetes.

The inhibition of renal glucose reabsorption is now another mechanism by which physicians can modulate blood glucose levels among their patients with type 2 diabetes. Because the United States Food and Drug Administration recently approved the first agent in this class, the Indiana University School of Medicine and Med-IQ have designed the CME activity, SGLT2 Inhibition in Type 2 Diabetes: Understanding the Rationale and Incorporating New Approaches Into Practice, to address the many mechanism- and practice-related questions that clinicians may have as they explore the rationale for this novel therapeutic approach and how clinical trial data can be applied to real-world settings.

“This educational activity is designed to assist healthcare providers in exploring and better understanding the role of the kidney in glucose homeostasis,” said Vivian Fonseca, MD, Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology, at Tulane University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. “Participants will also have the opportunity to review recent clinical evidence on SGLT2 inhibitors and how they can be integrated into the management of type 2 diabetes.”
