Med-IQ.
Inspiring Medical Education.

BALTIMORE, MD—July 8, 2014—Med-IQ, an award-winning, ACCME-accredited provider of continuing medical education (CME), is pleased to announce the publication of its research findings on autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT).

AHSCT is an increasingly important therapy for a variety of malignancies, yet gaps exist in clinicians’ understanding of challenges that can hinder optimal patient outcomes. In an effort to help clinical members of hematology-oncology care teams maximize the benefits of AHSCT, Med-IQ conducted a comprehensive research study and published its findings in the CME/CE-certified report, Perspectives From the Frontlines of Stem Cell Mobilization: A Report of Current Evidence, In Practice Research, and National Survey Findings. This complimentary CME/CE publication integrates research findings with current medical literature to explore barriers that result in delayed initiation of AHSC collection and subsequent transplantation. It also provides evidence-based data on risk factors for AHSC mobilization, different mobilization strategies, clinical outcomes, and resource utilization.

“Stem cell transplant plays a powerful role in the treatment of patients with hematologic malignancies,” said Luciano J. Costa, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of Research of the BMT Program at the Medical University of South Carolina. “However, proper planning is imperative to achieve good outcomes. Our goal with this activity is to equip members of the hematology-oncology team with evidence-based data to better navigate the complexities of this therapeutic option.”
