Med-IQ.
Inspiring Medical Education.

BALTIMORE, MD—July 1, 2014—Med-IQ, an award-winning, ACCME-accredited provider of continuing medical education (CME), invites community oncologists and other healthcare professionals who treat patients with multiple myeloma to attend the free CME/CE-certified workshop, Optimizing Outcomes Through Personalized Relapsed/Refractory Multiple Myeloma Treatment: A Regional Workshop Series for the Entire Care Team.

The introduction of immune-modulating drugs and proteasome inhibitors has recently transformed the treatment of relapsed and relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma. Although these agents and regimens based on these agents have offered new therapeutic opportunities, they are associated with significant side effects and risks. Many of these adverse events are preventable or manageable, and collaborative care among all members of the patient’s treatment team ensures the best outcomes. Additionally, clinicians can help improve care by providing patients with education to assist in self-management and possibly prevent complications.

“In each live workshop, we will explore factors that guide therapeutic decision making for patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma,” said Joseph Mikhael, MD, MEd, FRCPC, FACP, Associate Dean, Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ. “We will also review strategies for preventing, identifying, and managing adverse events that result from myeloma treatment. Participants in this workshop will be better equipped to manage patients who are in treatment for multiple myeloma and potentially improve quality of life for patients.”

This regional workshop series is being held in select cities across the country:
