Overview: This 15-minute activity features a brief video introduction by faculty expert Neil MacIntyre, MD, who discusses recent updates in the diagnosis and management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The activity then continues with a text-based review focusing on the updated GOLD 2017 recommendations related to the COPD diagnosis, staging, and pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic management strategies.

Upon completion, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize the GOLD 2017 recommendations for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of COPD

Target Audience
This activity is intended for community pulmonologists.
 
Series Overview/Statement of Need
Guideline recommendations are not always implemented optimally for patients with COPD. Pulmonologists can therefore benefit from becoming more familiar with the recent updates to the GOLD 2017 recommendations related to the diagnosis and management of COPD with the goal of applying them in clinical practice

Med-IQ is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
 
Med-IQ designates this enduring material for a maximum of 0.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
 
Medium/Method of Participation
This CME activity consists of a 0.25-credit online publication. To receive credit, read the introductory CME material, read the publication, and complete the evaluation, attestation, and post-test, answering at least 70% of the post-test questions correctly.
